Update From The Campaign Trail

It’s been a great week on the Campaign Trail. I can’t thank everyone enough for the kind words of support that I am receiving everywhere I go. Your faith in my ability to lead this community is very humbling and greatly appreciated.

As I campaign daily, I get the opportunity to hear your concerns and comments directly from you, what we can do better on your street, in your neighbourhood or in general. So far this week I have been in Curling, Humber Heights, Country Road, Townsite, Bell’s Brook, Upper Carberry’s and more…and I also lost 1 notch on my belt, so it’s been a very good week all around!

Many people may not realize as well that while I am out and about campaigning, I am also continuing to carry out my duties as Mayor, as the business of the city has to continue even during an election campaign.

Here is an account of a typical day from this past week:

Saturday was another full day on the campaign trail. We started out by welcoming the Herdman Class of 1967 to our City Hall before heading across the Street to visit with the fine folks at the Wonderful Fine Market and pick up a few items.

Then it was time to hit the pavement as we knocked on doors in the Upper Carberry’s Road area as well as Beautiful Bell’s Brook.

I had a great time chatting with residents, hearing their thoughts and ideas on what we can do to make Corner Brook even better in the years to come – simple, sensible ideas – that can make all the difference to families living in various neighbourhoods throughout the city.

I also took the time to stop by Basha Field on Wellington Street where SonRise Ministries were hosting a kids day before heading out to Corner Brook’s newest restaurant, Nirvana Authentic Indian Cuisine on Broadway which was absolutely delicious – and after logging almost 50 km this week, it was greatly appreciated

Next we were off to the Civic Centre for the Major Midget Hockey Season Opener, which I am happy to say was won by our very own Western Kings! Go Team!.

Don’t forget tonight at 8 I will be hosting a Facebook Live event – so send me your questions in advance or during the event and I will try to answer as many as I can.

It’s just another way of being Accessible to our residents.
